About me

I work as Principal Artificial Intelligence (AI) Research Engineer at Medtronic. I got my PhD in Computer Vision (CV) and AI at Queen Mary University of London (London, UK).

In my current role, I lead the development of CV projects with focus on the detection, localisation, and recognition of surgical objects. My main tasks include the coordination, design, and development of real-time machine learning algorithms. Some of these works have become publications in international conferences and journals; highly-ranked in international competitions, and submission of a number of patents.

During my PhD, I investigated the problem of localising, estimating the physical properties of, and tracking objects from audio and video signals that are the basis for applications such as surveillance, search and rescue, extraction of objects’ patterns and robotic applications. Also, I investigated methods for protecting private information of images from unwanted inferences using adversarial images.

Previously, as researcher, I collaborated in international projects where I investigated topics such as: object detection from visual data (EventVideo), object tracking from visual data (COPCAMS), and multi-modal signal processing and machine learning algorithms for human-to-robot handover of unseen objects (CORSMAL).

With more than 8 years of working experience on CV and AI, I got my work published on >20 papers, and cited >400 times in peer-reviewed international journals such as IEEE SPM, IEEE RAL; and international conferences including CVPR, IROS, ICIP, ACM Multimedia, and ICCASP. Two-page CV here.
